Hi guys. What mounts, pan, oil pump, oil filter, etc. will I need to install a 472/500 with a TH400 into my '98 S-10? Will parts intended for a G body swap work or will it be fab city for me? Thanks.

Sleeper,

Not meaning to be a smart ass, but:

Step 1: remove heater, move firewall back, probably move steering column over a bit. Mounts, etc should not be a big deal compared to that.

Engine and interior's already stripped, including the HVAC "doghouse", so it's somewhat smooth. I will look into setting the motor back, may as well as it should help it launch a bunch. Going to take some measurements tomorrow. Thanks.

Probably should consider upgrading the front suspension...

I dont even think I looked to see how old this thread is (I am new here so not sure when things have been posted sorry) but anyways, post some pics up when your done with this. I never have seen a big block motor in a little S10 before. One thing I can say is move the motor back heaps. I have seen people put 400 small block chevys into a S10 and it wont hook up worth crap. Try adding weight to the bed.

Several years ago I saw a picture in a magazine of an S10 with a 454 Chevy in it. It wasn't a full article and there weren't any real installation details given. The one thing I do remember is that the engine was set back 10 inches because of space problems and an attempt at better weight balance. No mention of what happened to the firewall. I think you're looking at "fab city" here.

I'm thinking an S10 would be a good home for a Northstar engine. There are a couple companies making RWD conversions. What do ya think?

How about a 472/500 with eldo trans-axle in the bed with a shell on the bed to conceal the motor? Just a thought. All you would have to worry about is some wheelie bars.
