Hi Spiderman,

Already got a (Brand new) 4L80E, but I wonder where you got the adapter plate to fit the 500 from?

Pls let me know.

Thx!

Mike.

MTS sells them - DT13 for sticks and DT14 for autos. DT14 comes with the nose piece for the convertor. About $98.00

Duck,
I had planned on bolting a 500 into my '98 Chevy C3500 to replace the Chevy 5.7 and use the 4L80E in it. The truck would then continue to utilize the rest of the drivetrain, including the 4.10 rear, and, keep the OD. However, the 4L80E is FULL electronic. The factory PCM (powertrain control module) controls both the engine and trans, and uses signals from the engine sensors to control the trans. The computer is available from at least three sources, including PATC (Performance & Automotive Transmission Center; http://transmissioncenter.net (http://transmissioncenter.net/)), Summit Racing (http://www.summitracing.com (http://www.summitracing.com/)) and Compushift (http://compushift.com (http://compushift.com/)). It's $1199 if you don't buy a trans from PATC (I'm not sure if the TPS is included), $735.95 from Summit Racing (plus $139.95 for the wiring harness, $209.95 for the remote TPS, and, you will need a Windows based PC/laptop to program it) and $1095 from Compushift (plus $122.08 for the carb-mounted TPS and $185-$285 for the display unit, but, the standard unit has potentiometers for shift pressure and speed along with a TPS calibration switch (no laptop required).
Now it's looking like I am going with a TH400 and changing the 4.10 rear to 3.42. I'm hoping the wide torque curve of a 500 will work alright.

Spyderman,
Did or do you have a TCU (transmission control unit) for the 4L80E?

Pat,
There's been some progress on a MSII based transmission controller.
I know of 2 separate projects.

One is based on the microSquirt unit and one using the new GPIO boards.

My understanding is both are being used in vehicles currently.
