Don't think you are going to find that pan cheap, they are in demand and hard to remove.

They generally run from $200 to $300 but you don't need the pick-up if doing dry sump so might be able to find on for less without the pick up
Before you hack up a highly sought after & fairly hard to find part. Have a look at either the 425 mid sump pan or the 368 rear sump pan. I think you will find the over-all shape of either one of these pans to be much easier to work with. Plus they are not very expensive. I picked up a nice 368 rear sump pan in the $35 to $45 range.
i have a mid sump pan now. i want the FWD pan so i can retain the drain plug. i know i could add one, but it would be easier if it were all wayse there. not to mention its deeper in the front then any other pan i have seen. not by much, but so far thats what i've found. if some one has a better pan, post some pics so i can get an idea of what to look for.
heres the plan. i will chop off the entire rear section, where the gray bar is. i will then bend up a slightly curved piece of sheet metal, so all the oil runs to one side. then i will hammer the hump(aarow) flat, and plate it all in. im working on a 3D modle, but that takes time. the pic thing was real quick.

Rock,
Please try to listen to me. Believe it or not... I would like to see you succeed in driving that bundle of tubes, instead of running out of steam or dollars & end up donating it to your local Parks & Rec department as a new Jungle Gym.
The pan in your pic is what I believe to be an Eldorado pan that was only available in Eldo's from 1970 to 1975 or '76. They are a royal pain in the backside to remove from the donor vehicle. I'm fairly certain there is about only two ways to do it. You either have to completely pull the engine from the car, or take a cutting torch & cut the car away from the engine.
There are three external engine parts that are highly sought after & bring a good amount of cash. They are... The rear sump Eldorado oil pan & oil pick-up tube. The other is the driver side (left) exhaust manifold from the same years Eldorado.
If you are fortunate enough to have these parts & either do not need them for your project, or must permanently modify them to work. You really should consider selling them to someone else who needs them as they are.
The Eldo pan is thin in a few areas after it was stamped out of a flat piece of steel. Several, if not all of them, have a factory repair at the rear main where the steel split & the factory welded it back together. I think your plan of hammering out the hump where the axle passes underneath is going to back fire on you.
Have you ever heard the old saying... "You're tripping over dollars to pick up pennies"? Your desire to use that pan simply due to the drain-plug location is silly. With all the fabrication you plan to perform... Installing a drain is inconsequential. I'm telling you... The mid-sump 425 pan or the rear sump 368 pan are far better suited to what you are trying to accomplish. The shape is better to begin with, they're fairly plentiful & they're cheap!
I do not have any pictures of a 425 or 368 pan to show you. I do believe you can find some good pics at the other site that you & I have visited. Plus there were some good picks of a 368 pan on Pirate4x4. Try a search for a member named Li'l John (or a close variation of) who's building a Caddy powered Land Cruiser. The 368 pan fit his swap much better than the pan you have pictured above. It really is a nice pan & still somewhat of a secret.
I think I'm beginning to understand why your nickname is ROCK. :p

Seeings how you are benefiting from a board that is sponsored by MTS. You should always give them the first shot at doing business with you.
If by some rare chance that MTS doesn't have the part you want, or you need to find something locally, you could try: http://car-part.com
Try a search for an 'engine oil pan' for a 1980 or 1981 Cadillac Eldorado with the 6.0 or 368 engine, and see what you find.
Now I must take a break... My typing finger is getting sore. :p
i understand what your saying. i would use a different pan if it works out better, i just like that pan. if that's not the one i use so be it. i just need one no matter what it is. i have the pan off my 472, but i don't want to hack up the only pan i have. i don't want an open engine in a fab shop.
no matter what pan i use, i need to buy one. that's the whole reason i posted on here. i have tried eBay, and a whole host of other sites. i just cant seem to find anything.

The Eldo pan is difficult to find.
I'll bet MTS has a few RWD pans though.
Otherwise they pop up on eBay often.
