tony'n weatherford,
Any "bop" trans will bolt to the 500. The '68 up [to 'at least '78"? deville] rwd caddy cars' TH400 used a long caddy only tail extension. Longer even that the non caddy "long tail TH400s". The extra long caddy has an odd caddy only trans mount, but the extra length can be helpful if you want to use a 1 pc driveshaft on a long wheelbase vehicle.
The eldo rear sump pan should suit you, but if you find that you can use a front sump ['68-'78 rwd cars] or a mid sump ['77-'84? rwd cars], the eldo pan and pu tube should bring you $100-$150. The rear sump eldo pan is a must in many swaps. Afaik, the '68-'78 eldo pu tube is no longer available new, btw.
You may find that exhaust manifolds from a rwd car will suit your swap better. Iirc, the eldo starter will not work for rwd apps, so you may need a starter for rwd.
