Just curious if anyone knows the maximum safe RPM limits of a Cad472 using Olds 7" rods and KB-206 pistons would be. I was told by my machinist that I'd probably start flinging the oil off the mains and have an oil related failure before I broke a rod. Just wanted to know if anyone out there has a similar setup and how high the spin their motor and how fequently they redline their motor. Camshaft in my motor is easily good to 6000rpm.
Good question!
You always see how the stockers are good only to 5000 or so, and to use Olds forged rods above that level, but never a limit for the Olds Rods...
Anyone have unfortunate experience they want to share?

FWIW I have had no failures with 7" Olds rods with forged pistons @ 6000 RPM for years. My guess is your KB piston is as light or even lighter.
My bet is you will be fine.

Al,
Any ideas on what rpm the cast pistons you sell will handle with Olds rods?
