Hi all I am trying to get an idea of what needs to be done on my engine. I am supposed to run .030 with my cam, but the heads I am using have been cut .045. With this cut would it be possible to run the stock leangth pushhrods or will I need custom length?
thanks
Shawn

I would install the push rods and check the preload of the lifter with the set up you have and then make any necessary changes to get the proper preload.

cadfor is right but the question you asked was would the cut on the heads mean you need a shorter pushrod ? yes .... .045 taken from the heads that had the right ajustment before the cut would mean that .045 shorter pushrod would be needed ... if the cam has a reduced bace circle of .030 then you should be .015 long with a stock length pushrod but it is always a good idea to check before you button up the motor.
