1973 caddilac eldorado fwd 425 or 472 0r 500...

the vin # is 6L47S2043091B it is a fwd ...will this motor bolt up to my th400???? im getting it real cheap... if it will bolt up ill sell the tranny and car to anyone who wants it i just need the motor...according to the vin# its a 425...but cadilac didint make 425 in 1973 or am i wrong please help the only # i got off the heads were A14....

All 1973 Eldorado were 500. It will bolt up no problem as long as your T400 is a BPO bolt pattern and not Chevy.

yep that tripped me out too...but thats what the vin tag says..at first i thought it was a 425ci but cadillac didnt make a 425 in 73' but the damn chilton book says it was a 425 due to the S in the serial # but i found a link to the 500ci in this forum which says the S in the serial # says its a 500ci
and the vin says its a 1972..due to the sixth number in the serial #.
according to that website....im just happy to get a 500ci for my jeep.oh yeah it came with a holley double pumper.

Caddy lists the rwd cars as all having 472s in '74, but they may've just not told anyone that they ran out of 472, and used 500s late in the year.
I don't know for sure.

Afaik, the last year for 500" was '76, and the 425 was '77-'79, even in eldo.

Also, weren't all the 425s delivered with a single plane intake? That might help eliminate one of the choices.
