When I convert my 500 to EFI, will I have to change anything distributer wise? Will I need to get a new one or what? Thanks in advance.

If your using the factory caddy efi ya you need to change the distributer to the efi one because it has a crank trigger in it. - Justin

No, I'll be using a custom EFI setup using a modified stock intake and Megasquirt controller. In this case, do I need a new one with a crank trigger or what?

Nope, all you will need then is a normal HEI distributer. If you want to control the ignition with the megasquirt then you can use a distributer from a v864 368 motor. - Justin

You have to modify the megasquirt board to accept the hei tach signal. If you have a msd6 box you can use the tach output. On my board a 1kohm is changed to a 390 ohm and a 20 volt zener is added but it all depends on the version you are going to use. If i was living in the states i would find a 368 distributor with a 7 pin module in a junkyard. That way you can control the ignition advance with some of the new megasquirt versions. Search for megasquirt triggering and 7 pin hei module

Oh yay, another thing to complicate the EFI setup :?

I'll be troubleshooting for weeks... :(
