I would say a very strong yes. A complete car for that amount of money is a great buy. A 71 has the 76cc heads. You get the tranny and all the other parts.

Someone a while back put one in a Ford truck and it looked like it belong there. It was a very nice swap, I wish I could tell you more. For the truck the engine would be great as is or you could just do dual exhaust with stock manifolds and an Edelbrock intake. To spice it up you could put in a small cam.

As far as I know no one has put one in a 89 or like Camaro. Been lots of talk about it but I have not seen any results. You may be the first. You could go from mild to wild on this one. If it was me I would start out almost stock and once it on the road tear it down for upgrades.

Both sound fun, now make that call.

If you get the car it'll have the best tranny to use.

Probably a rear-sump from an Eldorado. Good luck finding one.

so a rear sump from an eldo and the same tranny thats hooked to motor? so the car is rear wheel drive? alright now if guy will call me.

and what would you do to the motor before putting it in? i want some power but i am on a limited budget.

I would say firstly fire it up, and use common mechanical sense. Listen for bad noises.

Also, pull the heads to check your valves and cylinders. Also check for any loose rockers, etc. Any sludge? Clogged pushrods? Bent pushrods? How do the lifters look? Cam lobes? Any slack in the timing chain? Does the carb need a rebuild? Do the manifolds have cracks in them? Are gaskets used on the exhaust manifolds (not supposed to) Broken bolts? Vacuum leaks? Exhaust leaks?

Firstly, look into all of that and more, and fix the necessary. Then, the rest depends on your budget and what all was initially wrong. IMHO you should start with the cam and carb. Port the intake and cut out the center (if not familiar with this, go to www.500caddy.us and on the left side click on Manifold) This will really wake up the engine quite a bit. Also a 2.25" or so dual exhaust will really help.

Any more questions, just ask. Hope all goes well for you and your engine.

so just fix any problems that need attention. then start pouring money into it. and any machine shop could mill that center section out? well i will keep ya'll informed on this new project.

Yeah, that's the idea. Get it solid, then start with the upgrading.

Any good machine shop with the right tools will be able to bore that center out. You could also print the pictures off form that page to show to them to give them a better idea.

don't remove the exaust manifolds from the engine unless you want to drill out most of the bolts.they will break.
