This is a very controversial topic. Some people say very little, some say a lot.

From what I understand, it can handle a big chunk of what is thrown at it. One thing is that these engines have such a long stroke, you won't be experiencing very high RPM's. What are you doing for pistons? One guy I know has KB's on an entirely stock bottom end, and has continuously sprayed it with a 250 shot suffering nothing but a thrown stock rocker. The engine is completly fine to this day. Basically I think that if you go with some KB's or Ross pistons with the rest of the bottom end being entirely stock you might do just fine. Not sure what the call would be on the stock cast pistons.

well im going with stock cast for now. ive heard they can handle a lot more than a 150 shot with stock pistons. but i dunno never messed with a caddie before. ive heard 125 is the max on a stock LS1 also and i sprayed 200 wet to mine and never had a problem

thats a good question, been wondering that myself. I have KB's with stock bottom end and have been thinking about a shot if juice (for no reason other than..i can) but didnt know what it could handle

As I said, LUXLX throws a 200, then 250 shot at his with KB's and bone stock bottom end.

NOS makes a Powershot kit for the Quadrajet. It's a 125 shot, but the Deluxe or whatever is a 150 or 175

as i said in my greeting i used to work in a fab shop. well it just so happens that my boss was like the ultimate nitrous junkie. so ive learded alot about spray. and like to build my own kit. this one will probably end up as a two stage with cheater or super power shot solenoids or if money will let me a direct port setup. as of now im looking at a plate system because thats what i have available.

IIRC, LUXLX is doing the 250 shot with cast pistons at around 8:1 compression. CC has ran much nitrous through his stock piston 12:1 engine also. CC did find some cracks in his pistons after awhile. I've had one of my turbocharged 8:1 500 engines into the 600-650hp range with stock pistons.

We all run expecting them to break at anytime though. If you can live with that then spray away! Blowing head gaskets seems to be the real problem when trying to do it. LUXLX torques his heads to 135 ft/lbs and said that seems to have cured his head gasket problem. I've blown a few gaskets but the head was a little uneven and it isn't back together yet to prove if that was the problem or not.

Not sure how those gapless rings will take to the spray either.

I've heard the KB's are more prone to cracking than the stock composition pistons. Has somethinf to do with the silica percents

nitetrain,
Are you running C&A Z gap of Total Seal rings? A buddy of mine runs a ProMod car and says that the Total Seal rings will not hold up under much juice. He's had good luck with C&A.
