 Couple of quick questions for you guys. What port on the carb should I hook my vacuumn advance to? Other question, where are you guys grabbing vacuumn for your brake booster? The Eldo I grabbed the carb off of had hydro boost, so it didn't have one. FWT it's worth, the beast fired up this afternnoon. It kinda knocked a bit at first, but mellowed out after about a minute. The valve train is still a bit noisey, but I think after driving it a bit it will go away. I threw a kit in the carb. I noticed after I started the car for the first time it had fuel leaking out around accelerator pump. After I hooked up the throttle linkage, with numerous pumps of the carb I restarted the car. It didn't seem to leak as much, actually it barely leaked at all. Is this a common thing with a new seal? Does it need to be soaked in fuel to seal? Thanx!

The source for ported vacuum to the distributor is normally on the front near the throtle linkage. Vacuum for the brakes is full manifold vac, normall a port in the throtle plate, down low at the back. If you don't have that connection, use the on on the rear of the intake instead. You'll probably need a tee and/or reduce to fit the lines though.

 Ah, Rats! Since the carb came from a hydro boost car, it has no vacuum thing down low at the back. The casting is set up for it but it's not drilled and tapped. The manifold, came from a Seville 'vert, has only one small vac. port at the back. Looks like someone might hafta break out the drill... I figured out the vac. to the dist. However, on the car I grabbed it from it had a nipple on the front of the manifold it was hooked to. Gotta like junkyard frankenstiens! The thing does run pretty good, so I'm happy with that!

Please don't use the color tags for every post. It's harder to read.

Should be able to just put a tee there. A larger feed would be nice, but the tee should work OK. You might want to find a vacuum storage tank to use too.

That was probably the thermal vacuum switch. So the dist get ported vacuum from the carb unless it gets hot. Then that switched to manifold vacuum. Used at idle to increase the air flow through the radiator. Safe to ignore unless you idle in hot weathe a lot.
