I wanted to get a good starting point to make my 77 Eldorado with a 425 to have the best performance with my limited mods. I have true dual exhaust, dual plane manifold, open element K&N air filter, aftermarket coil, and an advance curve kit. I use 91 octane. I have a service manual and know what the factory recommends for the following baselines, but wanted to maximize my performance.

I wanted to see what some of the "gurus" think I should set the base and overall timing at. Also what is a good rpm for idle, and what metering rods/jet sizes would be good for performance on a stock quadrajet with my engine configuration. Emissions and fuel economy aren't an issue.

Thanks for the help,

P.S. this might be a good FAQ "sticky" to make.

I tryed to post this before and lost my conection .... every motor will take a little different timing ...... I would start at 10 to 12 and see how it does .... you do not want the motor to detonate so keep an ear open .....as for idle speed you want as low as you can without the motor stalling most stock motors will run at 600 rpm but if you need to be closer to 800 that is fine too ....
