Considering changing the .55 needle seat to .145 to obtain more flow quicker,,, as I have a air gap bog about 70 mph (sometimes).
Has anyone ever done this? Is it productive?
Also,,, should i buy the hi-perf accelerator pump too?
Some of these guys on the net are record holders in the 1/4 mile using
the big Q-jets,, they talk like its the best carb-low tech that is, and with some tweaking it will do great.

The Q-jets sometimes get a bad rap, but they are pretty good carbs when they're setup properly. The larger needle and seat is definitly a good idea. I've never had problems with the accelerator pumps unless they were worn out. A bog is almost always caused by the secondary air valve being adjusted too loose. With a small screwdriver hold the adjusting screw on the passenger side of the secondaries, loosen the allen screw that faces down right below the adjusting screw, turn the adjusting screw 1/4 turn clockwise, then retighten the allen screw. There should be a very slight return pressure when you push the secondary air valve open with your finger.

Thanks for the advise,,, I will for sure go with the needle/seats..
The bog is after Im way into the 2ndar then if falls like out of gas,, the accel pump is just added insurance
I have done all to improve gas flow,,, 2nd new fuel pump,,, 3/8 line all into the tank,, 3/8 fuel filter in/out!, the only thing left is the heat soak is so bad under hood that is might be vaporizing the gas in the carb.?
Cadipacer,
I have had such bad luck getting the mechanical Caddy pump to stay up with the motor, that I don't use at all. Every conversion I do gets a Carter Street pump. Mount it in the rear, as close to the tank as possible and you will never run out of fuel.
By the way, how those pics?
