I was wondering what were the differences between the 472 connecting rods and the 500 connecting rods. I have two sets of rods, both appear to be similar. One set has the number 35 and also the number 270 on it. The other set has the numbers 27 and 299 on it. The 27 299s are definately 472 rods out of a 1973 Fleetwood. Any help here would be appreciated.

I read somewhere that the 500 rods were beefier and heavier than the 472 rods. The length and end sizes are the same. They were also recomended for performance builds no matter which engine you're building. As far as casting numbers ???
I could be very wrong, but I thought 472 and 500 rods were all the same. The difference was the wrist pin location on the piston (edit, along with the longer stroke) to make the correct CID?
