Odd, hit preview and lost the post? Anyway, Picked up a new dip stick tube for my 472 from AL. It has a front sump oil pan. Installed it as the way it came out of the package and I'm getting no reading on the stick. I just change the oil and I know it has 5 quarts in it. Does the part of the tube that goes down into the pan suppose to have a bend in it so the stick ames at the botom of the pan? Any help appreciated.

As far as I know, it only has to bend enough to keep it way from the crank.

That's what I thought but I guess there's a little more to it but thanks for the reply

Did you compare the lengths above the block too?
I had to cut mine, in a RWD cad 472.
Are you sure you have the correct dipstick for the front sump pan?
I thing the FWD cads used the front sump, and had a longer dipstick and tube.

No, I had nothing to compare it to and I don't know if the stick I have is even the right one. I did cut an inch off the new tube just to see...nothing, guess I'll give Al a call and see what he has in stock
Thanks
