I don't know my Caddy engines well enough. I was told it is late 50's early 60's vintage. Would that make it a 368?

fwiw it should have a 2 digit# in the side of the block right above the oil pan.the 2 digits will tell u what year engine it is.i can rule out the 368 as it wasnt produced till 78 i believe.

specs are
365 engine=4.00borex3.625stroke
390 engine=4.00borex3.875stroke

if your block is a 58 and back it's a 365
the 390's were introduced in 59

Did it come out of a boat with those exhaust manifolds?

Ted's on the money. For sure it's out of a boat. Some vintage boat resto guy would probally wee himself for some of the parts on the engine.
I know there were a few 50's vintage Chris Craft wood boats that were produced with a Cad engine option. Those particular boats are worth more because of that.

No it's not an engine, It's a motor!

I beg-to-differ, motors are electric. Internal combustions are engines.

Keep begging, it was a joke.
What about vacuum motors?
What about motorcycles?
Dictionary definition of motor is engine.
Engine just sounds better to some people, some people just like to say "motor".

A very intelligent Engineer straightened me out on this long ago.

Inductance Motors

Internal Combustion Engines

And a Billet of Aluminum ends with an "A" sound. Like the end of Chevrolet. Not with an "it" sound.

If you want top dollar for it, here are some boating forums that would suck it up in a heartbeat. Those cooled manifolds are probably worth more than their weight in gold.

Do you have the generator and complete distributor? How about the starter? Those are very rare marine-only pieces that will bring excellent money. Save it, don't let it rust away! We boaters are always looking for examples like this.
